Offshore Planning
So why should I use an offshore broker?
I am sure many of you have asked yourself that same question, probably just as you have answered a telephone call from one!
Well let me start by saying that we do everything that your onshore financial adviser does, but that's not a good reason, is it. The fact is that when a financial adviser works offshore advising expatriates of many nationalities, they are learning something new everyday. Different client's have different needs and different views. Problems that an onshore adviser would probably miss are very clear and obvious to us. More importantly we too are expatriates, experiencing the same as you.
As a new expatriate upon leaving our home countries we have the blinkers removed and hey presto guess what there is a great big world out there and it's very different.
Our expatriate posting takes us to somewhere where our money is taxed differently, "how do I pay?" where we need to complete important forms written in a foreign language, "what if I make a mistake?" we need to open new bank accounts, "which is the best?". We are now living in a place where people of different nationalities get married, "what are the implications?" people move to new countries half way through a tax year, how do they go about getting a tax rebate, they purchase properties in different places around the world, they need medical attention that they have to pay for, does their existing life insurance cover them if they die whilst working in a foreign country, they have children overseas who will need education, they cant make any contributions to their existing retirement plans, what will happen to their state benefits if they are not earning money in there home country and then what happens when I return home!.......
These are just a few of the many questions that you probably have asked yourself long before you ever asked why should i use an offshore broker. Perhaps the real question is why shouldn't you use an offshore broker!
Is there any more reasons? Well yes as an expatriate you will be in high demand by your employers and you will probably have the pressure of deadlines and targets that need to be met before you even think about anything else. Financial planning is probably something you need and something you want but don't have the time to focus on things like products, services, funds, plans etc, we do!
Living and working overseas can be one of the most rewarding experiences financially as well as personally; it is also a potential minefield which needs to be navigated with the help of a specialist.
An offshore broker is such a specialist, our greater understanding means that we are continually looking further a field to find product providers with solutions to our client's sometimes very complex problems. Our experience of the expatriate and their sometimes very nomadic lifestyle means that within any planning we make we will allow for the probabilities as well as the possibilities.
In short we know expatriates and we know financial services, so why not take the advantage that we present.
